Nintama Rantaro also has an anime movie in the works!

This is great news for the fans of this hilarious ninja gag series by Soubee Amako, as they not only will have their live action release in the hands of director Takeshi Miike, they will also have an upcoming anime film that will premiere in Japanese theaters in March of next year!

This new anime film will be directed and supervised by Tsutomu Shibayama.

The word 'Nintama' is a contraction of the word 'ninja' and 'tamago', the latter meaning 'egg', to mean how Rantaro, the main character, and his friends, are 'ninja-in-training', given that they're barely in first grade as apprentices in an elite ninja academy, during Japan's Sengoku Jidai, the Era of the Warring States.

The anime dates from 1993, with 1338 episodes to date!
